New models and terrain

I've finished the last two pulp figures in my small collection. One looks kind of familiar, I think I've seen him before! Also, I've made some jungle terrain from aquatic plants I got real cheap. Look pretty good and were easy to put together. I'll be looking to make a whole lot more.

Sailors and new wall construction

Here are some of my sailors finished. It's been a while but I hope to have all of my models done by Christmas.

I've also started working on the walls attached to the gate. My son helped my with the relief designs.

Last of the island adventurers finished.

The final members of my island adventurers are painted. Will start work on the sailors soon and hope to have all of the figures done before the end of November.  

Film crew and dog!

I am half way through painting the film crew. I am pretty happy with them so far. I haven't had much experience painting females and I have to say it has been a highlight of this project so far. I also really enjoyed painting the bull dor. I just need to find a fitting name for him.

Islanders finished!

I have finished the first league for my kong adventure. Just need to varnish and add static grass. I will probably start on the steam crew next .Before I do though I will invest in some more colours so I don't need to spend so much time mixing.

Witch doctor

It's is the school holidays here in New Zealand so hopefully I will get some more figures painted. I've recently finished some more islanders plus my heroine. I tried some lighting effects on the doctor which I think turned out pretty good.  I had my two year old climbing over me as I painted these so I stopped there but I have the rest of my islanders half finished.  Here are some pics.

nice camera and set up some good lighting.

Islander test figure

Here is the first miniature from I have painted for some time. While I'm pretty happy with the skin tone, the rest of it needs a little bit of work. I mixed the colours for the accessories from my wife's fine art paint supply! I think I will splash out on some new paints. This will make the process a whole lot easier. Also, after seeing the mini up close in the photograph I can see that my brush skills need some work. What I am pleased with are the eyes. I painted them first which helped and I didn't even use my smallest brush. Look out for more islanders to come.

The first batch of figures are ready to be painted. I have a pretty busy week but hopefully I can get some time in.

In the deep end!

Pulp Island, a place of adventure, terror and giant critters! Welcome to what I hope will be a long lived blog about my adventures in pulp gaming. I have been a fan of the pulps tabletop wargaming for some time but have never put the two together. In fact, I have spent more time planning and researching games than actually playing them. So, I have jumped in the deep end and purchased some pulp minis which will form the backbone of my adventures on Pulp Island.

Here are the figures I have purchased. All from Bob Murch's Pulp Figures line. With these I hope to capture the excitement of King Kong on the tabletop. Wish me luck!
